Frequently asked questions
about riverside and therapy in ontario
Am I able to ask questions before counselling?
Yes, I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation where we can get to know each other and you can ask any questions you may have.
Is direct billing to my insurance available?
Psychotherapy and M.S.W. Counselling services are covered by many extended health plans. Currently, Riverside is able to direct bill to those with coverage through Green Shield Canada, SSQ Insurance, and Empire Life. Thus, if your coverage is through any other company, you will be required to pay for your counselling session upfront. After payment, you will receive a receipt which you can then submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement, following their session. Counselling services provided by Registered Social Workers (R.S.W.) can be claimed as a medical expense tax deduction when you file your income tax return. In other words, RSW’s are now authorized as “medical practitioners” for the purpose of claiming medical expenses.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, Riverside offers both in-person and virtual counselling sessions. This flexibility allows us to maintain consistent sessions no matter your location or schedule constraints.
